Pavel Amromin was born in Gomel, an industrial city in the former Soviet republic of Belarus. At age 13 he and his family immigrated to the United States and settled in Chicago. Pavel received his Bachelor of Fine Art with a concentration in sculpture from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In 2006 he received his Master of Fine Art in Ceramics from the University of Florida. Currently he is a studio artist and an Adjunct Professor at Gulf Coast Community College.
Pavel Amromin has exhibited his sculpture in juried and invitational exhibitions around the country. His recent shows include: “Adventure Bound,” The Clay Studio, Harrison Gallery, Philadelphia, PA, “Confrontational Ceramics,” Westchester Arts Council, White Plains, NY, “Voices,” NCECA 2008 Invitational, Society for Contemporary Craft, Pittsburgh, PA, SOFA Chicago and New York, “Clay, Coming Up Down South,” Blue Spiral 1, Asheville, NC, “38th Annual Ceramics Exhibition: A New Breed,” Crossman Gallery, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Whitewater, WI. He has been awarded the James J. Rizzi Scholarship, 2nd place award at Feats of Clay XVIII, 2nd place award at Jersey Shore Clay National, and the University of Florida Graduate Alumni Fellowship. His work has been featured in Ceramics Monthly, “500 Figures in Clay; Ceramic Artists Celebrate the Human Figure, ” Lark Books, 2004, and in “500 Animals in Clay,” also a Lark publication.
